Stone Heroes 01
This is a series of the Iconic sandstone fenceposts seen standing in the Golden Gate National Park, Free State, South Africa. Many of these stone posts are over one hundred years old, carved out of blocks of sandstone by the early settlers for use as fence posts… largely because there were few trees in this region. As the area is now a National Park (of great scenic beauty), they are no longer in use as fence posts, but stand proudly dotted around the landscape. Some still have barbed wire strands wrapped around them.
